New Year's Resolutions - Eating Healthily

Eating more healthily is one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions. Exactly what ‘more healthily’ means varies according to who you ask but most official advice revolves around eating more fruit and vegetables, less sugar and less fat.

The UK government’s recommended intake of fruit and vegetables is 5 portions a day. A number of studies have been published which show that the 5 portions a day is actually too low. However, the UK government sticks to this level because they think it is a reasonable expectation and that people would struggle to eat more. Other governments recommend much higher levels of fruit and vegetable intake. Japan, which has the highest life expectancy in the world, recommends 17 portions a day.

One of the reasons most experts think we need to eat more fruit and vegetables is because of the declining nutritional value of much modern food. It is well documented that industrially farmed fruit and vegetables have been declining in nutritional value over the last 50 years. It is now necessary to each as much as 8 or 10 times more fruit and veg to gain the same nutritional value compared with the 1940s and 1950s.

Unless you have the time to prepare all of your meals yourself, and to shop regularly for fresh supplies, it is hard for most people to reach the higher levels of fruit and veg intake. This is one of the big advantages of cold pressed juices. They are an easy and convenient way to boost your daily intake of fruit and veg and to make your diet healthier.

Why Cold Pressed Juices?

  • Each bottle of our cold pressed juice contains the equivalent of 5 portions of fruit and veg. So adding one bottle a day to your diet gets you to the government’s recommended intake. If you already have a vegetable rich diet then you will be reaching Japanese levels of consumption.
  • We only use organic ingredients to make our cold pressed juices. Studies have shown that organic fruit and veg have higher levels of anti-oxidants than industrially produced alternatives. So by having an organic cold pressed juice you are getting more benefit than eating standard vegetables.
  • Drinking a bottle of cold pressed juice requires no preparation on your part and can be easily added to your day, making it one of the most convenient ways to up your daily intake. We deliver our cold pressed juices to our customers before 6 a.m. each day so you don’t even need to go to the shops.

So, if you want to eat more healthily in 2017 adding a bottle of organic cold pressed juice to your daily diet can be one of the easiest ways to do it.
