How to Make 2017 your Healthiest Year

Lots of us will start off the New Year with the intention to turn over a new leaf and get healthy. Many people who start the year with a detox talk about it as a way to hit the reset button and make a clean break from unhealthy choices, but the real hard work comes with trying to carry through your new healthy lifestyle for the next 12 months. This is where it pays to take some time to think about why you want to be healthier and to set yourself some targets.

When our customers book one of our healthy juice cleanses we send them an information pack to help them prepare for their cleanse. This contains some practical advice about easing your body into a cleanse regime but also highlights the importance of mental preparation. Much of the advice we give for preparing for a one off cleanse also applies to planning a healthier year. Our top tips are:

1)      Know what you want – Make a list of your reasons for getting healthy and what ‘healthy’ means to you. Try to be specific about this and make it something measurable. It might be reaching a target weight, always eating your 5 a day or hitting a new personal best on your run. When you find yourself being tempted by unhealthy choices you can use your list of reasons to motivate yourself and keep yourself on track.

2)      Plan your food – At the end of a busy week getting a takeaway can be much more appealing than cooking a healthy meal from scratch. With careful planning it is easy to stop yourself falling into these habits. You can plan your weekly menu around the days you are likely to have time to cook and make extra portions for days when you will be busy. It is also worth keeping the ingredients on hand for quick healthy meals to save you time on shopping.

3)      Plan your social life – If your social life is built around going out for drinks and meals it can be hard to stick to healthy habits. Taking the initiative and planning healthier activities for yourself can be a good way to keep on track. For people doing our juice cleanses we recommend booking in spa sessions and walks. For longer term healthy living you may also want to schedule in yoga classes, gym sessions or swimming. Having a regular plan of healthy activities will make it easier to keep going.

4)      Tell people – One of the most powerful motivators for our juice cleanse customers is to tell other people what you are doing. Friends and family can be a great source of encouragement, and give you some extra pressure when you need it. If you can get them to join in with you that is even better.

Using Cold pressed Juices regularly

Cold pressed juices are an excellent tool for people who want to lead a healthier lifestyle. Many of our clients use our juice cleanse packages throughout the year. Doing a cleanse every quarter is a good balance and allows you to regularly give your body a boost. As we mentioned above planning is a big part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle so booking in a couple of cleanses at a time will give you regular markers to aim for through the year.

As well as doing cleanses many of our customers use our cold pressed juices as an addition to their diet. Each one of our bottles of juice packs in at least the equivalent of your 5 a day fresh fruit and veg. So having our juices regularly is a great way to keep your body topped up with essential vitamins and minerals. Adding healthy cold pressed juices to your normal meals will improve your diet with minimum effort and is one of the easiest ways to have a healthier 2017.
